Heartcode PALS is a blended course which includes online modules and a hands-on skills Competency Check. This Competency Check is to be completed after the student has completed the eLearning online portion of HeartCode PALS through the American Heart Association (AHA). Students who successfully complete the Heartcode PALS online course and the hands-on Competency Check at CHES will receive a PALS Provider course completion card (eCard), valid for two years.

HeartCode PALS is a comprehensive program that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.  Using eSimulation technology, students can assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students also apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

1) Reserve your spot (see available dates below) for a hands-on skills Competency Check at CHES by registering on this site (cost $100).

2) Prior to your hands-on skills Competency Check, complete the eLearning module (approximate time of course is 7.5 hours) through the AHA (cost $132 paid directly to Online AHA), found here:https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-pals.

3) Bring your certificate of completion of the online portion to your hands-on skills Competency Check at CHES.

Note: You must have a current BLS Provider certification to enroll in this course.  If you do not have a current BLS certification, please contact CHES for options to complete this.
