ABOUT THE COURSE:
The CHES Nurse Assistant (CNA) Class - Fall/Winter 2024-25 (Blended) is now accepting enrollments. This CNA class is approved by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Upon passing the course, students are eligible to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Examination in order to be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry. The CHES CNA class meets the minimum 75 hour requirement for Wisconsin. Approximately 40 hours are to be completed online/remotely and consists of web-based lectures, videos, quizzes, and assignments. Approximately 35 hours will be in-person, divided between hands-on skills demonstration at the CHES skills lab and 16-hours performing patient care at UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital. Students must complete all online content prior to their scheduled hands-on and clinical session and attend all in-person hours of the course.
Students are required to have access to a computer and internet. Upon completion of this course, students are eligible to take the State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Competency Examination (separate cost). Students must meet additional requirements as outlined in the Policy and Procedures and Student Handbook, which is available upon request.
COURSE COMPONENTS:
1. Application: Available 10/1/24 and accepted until all spots are filled or until 12/11/24, whichever comes first.
2. Clinical Onboarding: Accepted students must complete all clinical onboarding requirements by 12/18/24 - this is firm.
3. Online Learning: Accepted students must complete all online content by 1/6/25 - this is firm.
4. In-person Skills and Clinical Learning: Accepted students must adhere to and attend all in-person dates and times below.
1/7/25 (8am-3:30pm) Skills training at CHES
1/8/25 (8am-3:30pm) Skills training at CHES
1/9/25 (8am-5:00pm) Skills training at CHES then orientation at clinical site - note the longer time
1/10/25 (6:30am-1:00pm) Clinical
1/11/25 (6:30am-1:00pm) Clinical
1/12/25 NO CLASS
1/13/25 (8am-3:30pm) Skills/Exam Review at CHES
1/14/25 NO CLASS
1/15/25 (8am-2pm) Wisconsin State Nurse Aide Exam hosted at CHES
5. Wisconsin State Nurse Aide Exam: CHES is an approved test site for the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Exam. Exam fees are not included in tuition. Payment for the exam will need to be processed on the last day of the class. CHES will provide guidance in this process. The exam is administered by D&S Headmaster and more information about the exam can be found on the following webpage: https://hdmaster.com/testing/cnatesting/wisconsin/WI_CNA_Home.htm.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Follow the instructions below, in order.
- Please email CHES@edgewood.edu to express interest and request the Student Handbook and Pre-registration Form.
- Send completed Application Form to CHES@edgewood.edu
- Schedule a pre-registration phone call to get your questions answered.
- After your pre-registration phone call, you will be directed to complete your registration and pay tuition in full of $1,200 (note, tuition does not include health screening requirements, BLS CPR, Background Check, or Wisconsin Nurse Aide Exam).
- Once both your registration and payment are received, you will be able to get started with Online and Clinical Onboarding components.
- Please do not submit your registration on this website until all above steps are followed or your registration will be canceled.
