ABOUT THE COURSE:

The CHES Nurse Assistant (CNA) Course - Fall/Winter 2026 (Blended) is accepting applications for two sections. This course is approved by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services and meets the 75 hour minimum requirement for Wisconsin. Upon passing the course, students are eligible to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Examination in order to be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry (separate cost). For more information about the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry, please visit: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/caregiver/nurse-aide/natd-registry.htm

Approximately 40 hours are to be completed online/remotely and consists of web-based lectures, videos, quizzes, and assignments. Approximately 35 hours will be in-person, divided between hands-on skills demonstration at the CHES skills lab and 16-hours performing patient care at UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital. Students must complete all online content prior to their scheduled hands-on and clinical session and attend all in-person hours of the course.

Students are required to have access to a computer and internet and must have reliable transportation. Students must meet additional requirements as outlined in the Policy and Procedures and Student Handbook, which is available upon request.

Exciting grant opportunity: For a limited time, CHES has funding to reimburse students who complete the CNA course, complete additional coursework focusing on older adults, and are able to show CNA employment verification after completing the course. If you are planning to work as a CNA, then this is a great opportunity for you. Please ask us about our CNA +Geriatrics grant opportunity for more information!
