Nurse Assistant Training Program - Winter 2023-24
ABOUT THE COURSE:
The CHES Nurse Assistant Training Program is approved by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Upon passing the course, students are eligible to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Examination in order to be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry. The CHES CNA program is completed in 80 hours. Approximately 45 hours are to be completed online/remotely and consists of web-based lectures, videos, quizzes, and assignments. The remaining 35 hours will be in-person. The in-person portion consists of 19 hours of hands-on skills demonstration and competency check offs at the CHES skills lab and a 16-hour clinical rotation in Madison, WI at St. Mary's Hospital or UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital. Students must complete all online content and clinical onboarding requirements prior to their scheduled skills/clinical section.
Students are required to have access to a computer and internet. Upon completion of this course, students are eligible to take the State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Competency Examination (separate cost). Students must meet additional requirements as outlined in the Student Handbook, which is available upon request.
COURSE SCHEDULE:
Students must complete both the online and skills/clinical portions of the course in order to pass the class and be eligible for the Wisconsin State Nurse Aide Exam.
- Part One Online component (asynchronous) and Clincial Onboarding:
Students complete the online portion at their own pace/convenience. All online content must be completed prior to attending Part Two Skills/Clinical in-person component.
Clinical onboarding includes submitting certain health and background check screening requirements. You may request a list of these requirements. Fees associated with health screening and background checks are not included in tuition.

January 8: 8:00am-3:00pm (final skills and test prep day at CHES)

January 10: 7:30am-12:00pm (Part Three Examination at CHES; fee not included in tuition; see below)

- Part Three Wisconsin Nurse Aide Examination:
CHES is an approved test site for the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Exam and will have an exam seat available for students to take pending completion and passing of the course. Payment for the exam will need to be processed on the last day of the class. CHES will provide guidance on this process. REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Follow the steps below and in order. Do not register/pay for the course until directed to do so.
- Please email CHES@edgewood.edu to express interest and request the Student Handbook and Registration Form.
- Submit registration form completely as instructed on the form.
- Schedule a 15-minute pre-admission phone call to get your questions answered and approval of acceptance into the course.
- Return to this webpage as directed by CHES to pay tuition in full $1,100 (note, tuition does not include screening/health requirements, BLS CPR, Background Check, or Wisconsin Nurse Aide Exam).
- Once your registration and payment are received, you will recieve access codes and other information from CHES to get started on Part One Online and Clinical Onboarding.
