The cost of using the CHES depends on the equipment, supplies and staff needed. Please contact us at CHES@edgewood.edu to discuss pricing options.

 

If you need to cancel your registration for this course, please contact CHES staff at (608) 227-2292 ext 1, or via email at CHES@edgewood.edu as soon as possible. Cancellations cannot be processed on the website. Refunds and cancellation fees apply as follows:

    For the Nurse Assistant Training Program, please refer to the Student Handbook that was provided to you.
    For all other classes:
  • 100% refund if cancelled more than 10 business days prior to the course date.
  • 50% refund if cancelled between 6-10 business days prior to the course date.
  • 0% refund if cancelled 5 or less business days prior to the course date.

The CHES has free parking for visitors and participants taking courses. For day classes, park in spaces labeled "Reserved for CHES". For night classes, park close to the building in any non-reserved spot.

Note: GPS and online map users: Enter 3001 W. Beltline Frontage Road. If you use "Highway" you may be misdirected. Otherwise, please refer to directions and parking information below.

From the East

Take Hwy 12/18 westbound.  Exit at Todd Drive.  Continue west on the exit ramp.  Turn left at stop light.  After going under the overpass, take first right at light onto frontage road. After you have passed Landmark place, turn left at the entrance for 3113 and 3001. The CHES is located on the 3rd floor of the beige building with green glass windows.

From the West

Take Hwy 12/18 eastbound.  Exit Todd Drive.  Follow exit ramp as it makes a hairpin turn to the right. Follow frontage road westbound past the Landmark Place. Turn left at the entrance for 3113 and 3001. The CHES is located on the 3rd floor of the beige building with green glass windows.

               

Infant CPR ($20):
This is an introductory CPR course for anyone who does not need a course completion card for a job or other requirements. This brief course is ideal for parents, grandparents, caregivers and others who take care of infants. This course covers skills for infants from birth to 1 year old:

  • Infant CPR (compressions and breaths)
  • Infant choking relief

Adult and Child CPR ($20):
This is an introductory CPR course for anyone who does not need a course certification card for a job or other requirements. This course covers skills for adults and children (age 1 to puberty):

  • Hands-only CPR for adults
  • Child CPR (compressions and breaths)
  • Introduction of adult & child AED use
  • Adult and child choking relief

Heartsaver CPR/AED ($55):
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training but needs a course certification card in CPR/AED to meet job or other requirements. The course covers:

  • Adult CPR (compressions and breaths) and AED use
  • Child CPR and AED use
  • Infant CPR (birth to age 1)
  • Choking relief in adult, child and infant

With successful completion of the course, including a skills test, participants will receive a Healthcare CPR/AED course completion card valid for 2 years. This course is ideal for childcare providers or those looking to adopt. The course includes classroom instruction, American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED book and Heartsaver certification card.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) Renewal and Recognition ($65):
This course is designed for healthcare professionals to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course includes classroom instruction, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS book and a BLS course certification card. Participants must have an active BLS card to take the renewal course.

Yes, you can take the bulk of your CPR course on-line and then complete the check-off portion in person at the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation.

To do this for Heartsaver CPR AED or Heartsaver CPR AED 1st Aid (massage therapists/day care providers/exercise trainers/general public):
Go to the web-site: eLearning.heart.org and under "Find a course" select "Heartsaver." From the courses listed, select "Heartsaver® CPR AED Online" and this will bring up the Heartsaver CPR AED course for you (product #15-1401), which costs $15.00. Add it to your shopping cart, complete the payment process and then you will have access to the online module. The online module takes about 2 hours to complete and once the module is completed, you must print out the completion certificate and bring it to the skills practice and check-off. To schedule a skills practice and check-off session, call the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation, 608-227-2292 ext 1. This will take up to 1 hour and is completed at the CHES simulation lab. The cost of the skills practice and check-off is $40 and is payable by cash, check or credit card.

***If you also need a First Aid course, in addition to Heartsaver CPR, you could select "Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online", and this will bring up the course for you (product #15-1403), which costs $30. The cost of the skills practice for First Aid and CPR combined is $55 and will take up to 1 hour and 15 minutes***

To do this for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (providers such as: nurses, doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, etc):
Go to the web-site: eLearning.heart.org and under "Find a course" select "Basic Life Support (BLS)". From the courses listed, select "HeartCode BLS" and this will bring up the HeartCode BLS course for you (product #20-3553), which costs $31.00, Add it to your shopping cart, complete the payment process and then you will have access to the online module. The online module takes about 2-3 hours to complete and once the module is completed, you must print out the completion certificate and bring it to the skills practice and check-off. To schedule a skills practice and check-off session, call the Center for Healthcare Education and Simulation, 608-227-2292 ext 1. The CHES offers a variety of course opportunities for caregivers of all kinds from healthcare providers with advanced degree and specialty training to the general public interested in taking courses such as CPR or dementia training. Ongoing offerings open for enrollment can be found on our calendar and specialized and customized programming may be discussed by contacting us and requesting a list of our simulation scenarios.
